FUELTANK
Removal and Installation - Saloon

As a safety precaution, first disconnect the battery.
Empty all possible fuel from the tank. This is best done either by syphoning or pumping it out.
Remove the floor covering from the luggage compartment and lift out the spare wheel. Where underfelt is fitted in the luggage compartment, fold it back from around the fuel tank.
Disconnect the fuel supply hose from the bottom of the tank.
Disconnect the leads from the tank gauge unit and the breather pipe from its connection at the top of the tank (where fitted).
Remove the bolt securing the tank retaining straps and withdraw the tank, releasing the filler neck from the grommet in the rear wing panel. Remove the tank from the luggage compartment.
If a new tank is being fitted, the tank gauge unit should be transferred to the new tank. Unscrew the unit locking ring and withdraw the gauge unit, together with its sealing ring from the tank. Use a new sealing ring when installing the gauge unit in the new tank.
The tank is installed in the reverse order of removing.
Removal and Installation - Estate As a safety precaution, first disconnect the battery. Remove the drain plug from the fuel tank and drain out the fuel into a suitable container. Unscrew and disconnect the fuel supply pipe from the tank. Release the pipe from the retaining clips. Remove the filler cap. Disconnect the leads from the tank gauge unit.
Remove the tank securing screws, noting the plastic spacers, and lower the fuel tank out of its location.
If a new tank is being fitted, the tank gauge unit should be transferred to the new tank. Remove the screws securing the gauge unit and withdraw the unit, together with its gaskets from the tank. Use a new gasket when installing the gauge unit in the new tank.
Install the tank in the reverse sequence of removing.
