SUPPRESSION It is important in the interests of efficient suppression, to scrape to bare metal each point at which an earth connection is made.
1. Fit a 1 mfd capacitor to the 'SW terminal on ignition coil. Earth under coil mounting bolt.
ALTERNATOR WITH YELLOW IDENTIFICATION MARK
2. Where alternator is fitted with yellow identification mark on alternator cap no further suppression is required to this component.
ALTERNATOR WITHOUT YELLOW IDENTIFICATION MARK
Connect a I mfd. suppressor capacitor to the output terminal of alternator as follows:
a) Pull off plug connection on alternator back plate.
b) Withdraw the two moulded cover securing screws and cover.
c) Route fly lead of capacitor through slot in moulded cover and, ensuring that associated wiring is not disturbed, connect lead to spare 3/16 in terminal blade attached to the main output terminal on alternator.
d) Refit moulded cover and reconnect plug to alternator.
e) Earth capacitor mounting clip under alternator rear fixing bolt.
VEHICLES FITTED WITH DYNAMO
Fit a 1 mfd. capacitor to the output (large) terminal on the dynamo. Earth under dynamo mounting bolt.
3. Fit a 1 mfd. capacitor to the supply terminal (white lead) on petrol pump. (This unit is located under left hand rear of body). Connect small tag of earthing lead supplied, to earth terminal on petrol pump, earth large tag of lead, and capacitor to bolt on pump mounting bracket.
4. Connect small tag of other earthing lead supplied, to small cheese head screw on terminal end plate (motor body) of the windscreen wiper motor. Earth other end of lead to gusset plate immediately forward of wiper motor where a hole should be provided.
